Deloitte Consulting "Start Up UF" Innovation Challenge
Improve your campus with an innovative idea
Deloitte Consulting is kicking off StartUp UF this Spring! StartUp UF is a competition that will allow students to propose a new technology-related solution to improve campus. Through the course of two days, students will work on developing the pitch for their technology solution with the help of Deloitte professionals with experience in start-up concepts and bringing new products to market. StartUp UF will give students the opportunity to learn start-up concepts while networking with Deloitte leadership.
Don’t have an idea? Students who want to participate can sign up with an idea or without an idea! Student who do not submit an idea will be placed into teams and paired with students that did submit an approved idea. Additionally, students can sign up as teams or sign up as an individual. Students that sign up as an individual will be placed into teams.

- Strong academic track record (minimum GPA of 3.2)

SPRING B 2020 SCHOLARLY WRITING
The
Spring B 2020 Scholarly Writing class will start Monday, March 9 and will end
Wednesday, April 15. It will meet 5:10 p.m. to 6:25 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays
in 214 Matherly Hall. The last day to register for it is Thursday, March 5. The
last day to drop it is Thursday, March 12.
(If
enrollment allows, a Summer B 2020 section of this class will be offered
Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 30 through August 6).
Scholarly
Writing (formerly EP 5845 and EAP 5846) is designed for international graduate
students and visiting scholars who wish to improve their written academic
English skills.
It
is offered as a non-credit class that lasts six weeks. It is not eligible for a
tuition waiver. It is not offered as a distance education or online class. The
cost of a six-week session is $350.

SPRING B 2020 ADVANCED ORAL PROFICIENCY
The
Spring B 2020 Advanced Oral Proficiency class will start March 10 and will end
April 16. It will meet 1:55 p.m. to 3:50 p.m. Tuesdays and 3 p.m. to 3:50 p.m.
on Thursdays in 320 Yon Hall. The last day to enroll in or drop the class is
Friday, March 13.
The
purpose of this course is to diagnose student fluency problems in English and
to introduce self-practice methods and online resources to aid students in
advancing their oral language proficiency. While not intended as a SPEAK Test
preparation course, a commitment to improving spoken fluency in English may
result in an improved assessment on oral proficiency tests. Students will exit
the course more aware of their individual fluency challenges and with a clear
idea about how to make progress on their own.
It
is offered as a non-credit class that lasts six weeks. It is not eligible for a
tuition waiver. It is not offered as a distance education or online class. The
cost of a six-week session is $350.

Volunteering Opportunity: NCFR Science Bowl
Science Bowl is an academic competition with high school participants from over 50 Florida counties. The competition encompasses questions from subjects of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math, Earth/Space Science, and Energy. Both the volunteer and committee base are composed of UF students who are interested in taking on the responsibility of fostering passion for the sciences in the younger generations. Volunteering with Science Bowl serves as a great opportunity for getting involved in an impactful, academic way.
Volunteers will help with the running of the competition the day of, and will be required to attend a couple training events in the weeks preceding the event. This year, the regional competition will be held on February 22, 2020. All volunteers will receive a free t-shirt, breakfast and lunch. Those that are interested can sign up here:
