NEXTPROF Nexus 2018 in Berkeley, CA, September 11-14: Deadline June 15.

Preparing the next generation of scientific and technological leaders. NextProf workshops have established a reputation as preeminent events in a revitalized nation-wide effort to strengthen and diversify the next generation of academic leaders in engineering.
The NextProf Nexus experience gives participants a candid view of academic life along with the tools and network to support their success.
Each workshop brings together a select cohort of diverse engineering PhD students, recent doctoral graduates and top faculty and deans from around the U.S. for three days of learning and interacting with peers and mentors. Speakers include distinguished deans, administrators, faculty and subject-matter experts from across the country. All costs are covered for accepted applicants.

Job Opportunity-Project Engineer
Position: Project Engineer
Job Description
The Project Engineer is responsible for performing calculations and designs to support water resource and land development projects for public- and private-sector clients. Typical projects may include a surface water management system, paving/grading, wastewater collection and transmission, and potable water distribution. Projects may also include permitting support, and engineering activities during project construction. Key responsibilities for this position include:
• Preparation of calculations, designs and reports
• Preparation of construction plans
• Preparation and compilation of permit applications and supporting documents
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor of Science in Civil, Agricultural or Environmental Engineering
• 2 - 4 years design/engineering experience
• Familiarity with Florida Water Management District regulations
• Proficient in surface water modeling, including AdICPR
• Proficient in AutoCAD (Land Development Desktop and/or Civil3D)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
• PE not required, but should have the ability to take the PE exam within 2 years
Salary: Negotiable based on Qualifications

The Southwest Florida Research and Education Center Graduate Student Organization (SWFRECGSO) would like to invite graduate students and faculty members to join us for the 6th Annual South Florida Graduate Research Symposium on Friday, June 22, at the Southwest Florida Research and Education Center (SWFREC) in Immokalee. Dr. Elaine Turner, Dean, UF/IFAS CALS, will be our special guest at this event. There will also be an optional field tour of the Silver Lake Preserve at Lykes Ranch for the first 30 attendees.
