Scientist / Engineer Modeler Position

INTERA Inc. has an opening for a Flow and Transport Modeler with an Engineering or Environmental Science background for our Albuquerque, New Mexico, office.

Job Description
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide support for groundwater, vadose zone, and general hydrogeology related modeling projects under the direction of INTERA’s senior modelers. The position requires knowledge of numerical methods, flow and transport modeling codes, interfaces and other modeling tools, and understanding of hydrogeology principles and practices in developing appropriate fate and transport models. Experience with GIS tools and modeling groundwater – surface water interactions is desirable. Depending on the applicant’s experience, responsibility may also include developing new clients and new lines of business. Must be able to work successfully as part of one or more project teams and follow QA procedures for various types of environmental modeling tasks. Other job duties will likely include report preparation, technical presentations, and field work.

Required Qualifications

Two to five years of applicable experience preferred, with primary emphasis on groundwater and/or vadose zone modeling.
Master of Science degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Hydrogeology, Applied Mathematics, or a similar field is required.
A Ph.D. degree is not required but is highly desirable.
Programming skill in one or more languages is essential.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
