Lecturer Position in Biosystems Engineering

The Department of Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences at Clemson University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position to begin in Fall 2016. The position will be responsible for teaching courses in the Biosystems Engineering Program. Potential courses include Capstone Design, Biosystems Thermodynamics, Renewable Energy Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering Design, Honors Research and laboratory sections for a variety of undergraduate courses. The position will be appointed with a one-year contract, renewable annually, and with potential promotion to Senior Lecturer after five years of excellent performance. Duties include teaching the equivalent of three courses per semester, advising students, assisting with collection of assessment data for ABET accreditation, recruitment and actively contributing to the core undergraduate teaching mission of the Biosystems Engineering Program. The position will provide an opportunity to experience teaching at the undergraduate level and develop teaching skills with significant mentoring. Opportunities to pursue research interests will be encouraged once a strong record of teaching is established. 

The successful candidate must possess a Ph.D. degree in Biosystems Engineering or a related field. Professional licensure or the ability to obtain a PE is desirable. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated aptitude to teach undergraduate Biosystems Engineering courses. The candidate must have the communication skills to motivate students and create a dynamic, interactive learning environment. The Biosystems Engineering Program is one of several within the Department, which currently has 23 tenure-track/tenured faculty and 4 full time and part time lecturers actively involved in research, teaching, and service endeavors. The Biosystems Engineering Program is housed in Brackett Hall, with research facilities in the Biosystems Research Complex and the Clemson Environmental Technology Laboratory. Clemson University is a public, land-grant institution currently ranked as 21st among national public universities by U.S. News and World Report and as a Tier 1 Research Institution with highest research activity by the Carnegie Foundation. The campus is located between Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC in upstate South Carolina. The location is at the foothills of the mountains with access to three lakes and only 30 minutes from Greenville, SC.
