Balancing Life, Academics, and Career

Come and learn about the resources available on campus to help students balance life, academics and future careers.

Katie Tanner from the Care Team will present on resources available to graduate students to successful balance life and academics in graduate school. U Matter We Care serves as UF’s umbrella program for UF’s caring culture and provides students in distress with support and coordination of the wide variety of appropriate resources. The Care Team is a support service which seeks to work collaboratively with students and the university to support individuals who are experiencing some measure of distress in their lives. Their goals include assessing factors contributing to the concerns, collaborating with the student to create and implement a plan that allows for increased perspective, growth and a return to a level of function most likely to promote success, and serving as a connector to other helping resources on and off campus.

Carey Graf the CALS UF Career Connections Center liaison will present on resources available to graduate students on campus for preparing for their next step. The career decision and job search process for graduate students has similarities and differences from the search of an undergraduate. During this presentation, students will learn about the range of services that the Career Connections Center offers to cater to their career needs.
