Graduate Engineering Courses
The UF Engineering Innovation Institute (www.eng.ufl.edu/innovation) and Engineering Leadership Institute (www.eng.ufl.edu/leadership) are offering several courses for UF engineering graduate students of any discipline interested in broadening their education in engineering creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership. These courses provide students with the opportunity to obtain an Engineering Innovation Certificate and/or an Engineering Leadership Certificate on completion of the required coursework.

Engineering Innovation (EGN 6642) introduces engineering students to the concepts of innovative thinking and innovation practices.
Entrepreneurship for Engineers (EGN 6640) introduces engineering students to the concepts and practices of entrepreneurial thinking and entrepreneurship.
Engineering Leadership (EGS 6039) introduces engineering students to the concepts, theory, and practice of leadership, managing change, leading through crisis and conflict, developing effective teams, and understanding real-world leadership values.
Advanced Engineering Leadership Development (EGS 6681) This course extends the comprehensive leadership learning and development process for engineering students into the subject of strategic leadership. Course completion is one of the prerequisites for obtaining the undergraduate Engineering Leadership Certificate offered by the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering. Prerequisite: EGS 6039 or instructor approval.
Fundamentals of Engineering Project Management (EGS 6626) In today’s cost-competitive and often complex work environment, engineers are very likely to be called upon to manage projects (or tasks) that implement their stakeholders’, or company’s products, services, or developments in an optimized, efficient manner.
Applied Engineering Project Management (EGS 6628, only offered online) Applied Engineering Project Management expands on foundational project management practices to include complex as well as new project delivery concepts. Topics include project acquisition; negotiation skills; advanced risk planning and management; program management; project. Prerequisite: EGS 6626, or equivalent (with permission of the instructor).
Divergent Thinking (EGS 6101) introduces engineering students to concepts of multiple forms of intelligence, divergent thinking, and engineering Grand Challenges.
Questions as to applicability to degree programs should be discussed with your department advisor. In Agroecological Evaluation of Alternative Cropping Systems (AGR 6932) you will:
- Confront challenges to agricultural systems
- Develop the knowledge needed to holistically and rigorously evaluate cropping systems
- Identify the benefits and challenges of emerging alternative agricultural systems using real systems as case studies
- Develop a proposal for an alternative agroecosystem that advances some or all components of the triple bottom line in a production environment
- Take field trips to better understand application of course material in real-world settings
- Work collaboratively to evaluate and assess agroecosystems
