Open research opportunities: Two positions are open for researchers interested in the biomechanics and neural control of fish navigation at the Liao Lab (http://liaolab.com).
1) A 3 year, NSF-funded position for a postdoctoral researcher is open starting July 1, 2019. The grant will investigate the mathematical and neural mechanisms underlying predator/prey responses in fishes. A background in neuroscience, engineering or computer science is desired.
2) A 2 year funded project on acoustic tagging of marine fishes is open immediately. The project will focus on tagging red drum in the St. Augustine area. Field experience handling small boats, scuba diving, and a college degree in biology or related discipline is required.
The Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience in St. Augustine is 1.5 hours away from Gainesville. The Liao Lab is part of UF’s Department of Biology and the J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering. For more information, email Dr. James C. Liao at: jliao@whitney.ufl.edu.
