AEC 6321, The Land-grant University and University Governance is open to all graduate students in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. The course is appropriate for any student who has a career path in university teaching or state extension programs. After an overview of the history of the land-grant university system, the course is then focused on the primary missions of teaching, research and Extension, plus international programs. The IFAS deans and a provost will discuss the present status and the future direction of land-grant universities. In addition, faculty governance is approached from the university and IFAS levels. The course is offered Spring 2015 and will meet on Tuesdays, 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. in room 306 Rolfs Hall. This course is only offered in odd-numbered years, so the next offering will be in 2017.
