This year’s 5K race is on October 30 at 8:00 a.m. Please come and enjoy the smells, sights and sounds of a beautiful Sunday morning at the Forest. Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities participate in the race, so don’t feel like you need to run the whole way – a walk only, or walk/jog strategy is common.

Description
The Flatwoods 5K is run just after sunrise on a natural, scenic limerock loop road around the Austin Cary Forest. The race is chip timed and the course is accurately measured, with mile markers. There is a water station at halfway, and post-race refreshments. If you register online, the cost is $10 (for the race) plus $10 (if you want a shirt). Online registered runners 14 years of age or younger race for free, but the shirt costs $10 (sizes down to adult XS). If you register late in person, the cost is $20 (for the race), and no shirts will be available. T-shirts are synthetic nylon with long leaf pine artwork. This year's color is forest green. Pine cone trophies to top male and female open and masters runners, and top 3 in all age groups. All runners 14 years or younger will receive an award.
Packet pick up
Early packet pickup is Thursday October 27 and Friday October 28 at Newins-Ziegler Hall on the University of Florida Campus from 4:00-6:00 PM (parking restrictions are lifted after 4:00). All remaining packets will be available for pickup the day of the race beginning at 6:30 AM.
