The Southwest Florida Water Management District, is seeking a Hydrogeologist or Groundwater Engineer in support of the Water Resources Bureau. Professional-level technical, scientific, and administrative work using an understanding of natural and physical science in areas such as engineering, hydrology, and/or geology. Conceptualize and construct numerical models; compile, analyze and evaluate required data; calibrate models and conduct sensitivity analysis; and construct predictive simulations.
Summarize and interpret data, develop related recommendations, and perform statistical analysis of hydrologic data. Understand the underlying governing equations and boundary conditions upon which various models are based, and can identify different types of hydrologic and environmental system models and their applicability. Has the ability to analyze model output; lead and respond to external peer reviews, and make recommendations regarding alternatives evaluated to solve complex water management issues. Prepare and present evaluation results both orally and in writing to a variety of audiences including Executive staff and policy makers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Hydrology, or Geology
• Two (2) years of related work experience
• Valid driver's license
Preferred
• Strong statistical background
• Working knowledge of hydrogeologic and groundwater flow principles
• Working knowledge of groundwater flow models
• Ability to use and manipulate large data sets
• Ability to use R, SAS, and other statistical platforms
• Master's or Ph.D.
