A postgraduate research training opportunity is available at the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Office of Water (OW). This
appointment will be served with the Office of Wastewater Management
(OWM), Water Permit Division, in Washington, DC. EPA’s Office of Water
is actively engaged in implementing a national regulatory program and
the non-regulatory elements such as technical assistance and outreach,
to support it.
The Rural Branch in the Water Permit Division is looking for an
intern interested in being trained in NPDES permitting, specifically in
the areas of pesticides, forest roads and animal feeding operations, and
other areas.
The intern will be trained in the various components of the NPDES
permit program; including gathering and analyzing data, drafting and
reviewing technical documents and reports, and will interact with
national experts on tough issues related to permitting for pollution and
analyzing the current status of how states are implementing NPDES
regulations. The intern will also be trained in assessing technologies
and practices associated with nutrient recovery and other types of
pollution prevention and abatement, as well as climate resilience and
mitigation.
