The Edward A. Bouchet Graduate Honor Society Applications deadline February 1st.

Applications are now being accepted for induction into the Edward A. Bouchet Graduate Honor Society. The Bouchet Society seeks to develop a network of preeminent scholars who exemplify academic and personal excellence, foster environments of support and serve as examples of scholarship, leadership, character, service and advocacy for students who have been traditionally underrepresented in the academy.

Members of the Bouchet society will work as ambassadors to promote diversity across campus, have the opportunity to network with other Bouchet Fellows and present their research during the Bouchet Society’s spring conference at Yale University.

Student and Postdoc Application Process:
Membership into the Bouchet Graduate Honor Society is by application only and approved by the National Steering Committee. All nominees must be ABD, having completed their qualifying exam, orals, qualifying papers or equivalent before submitting all materials listed below.

Application Materials: Deadline is February 1st, 2017
Completed Bouchet Graduate Honor Society Nomination Forms from each of the following:
  • The nominee's dissertation advisor or committee member
  • A graduate faculty member or administrator with knowledge of the candidate's leadership and character attributes
  • Current unofficial transcript
  • A current Curriculum Vitae or resume
  • 250-word dissertation or research abstract
  • Statement of purpose (2-page maximum) from the candidate indicating their educational and career accomplishments and future professional goals, past and current academic experience and the ways in which they have and will continue to fulfill the five thrusts of scholarship, character, leadership, service and advocacy and how the candidate's educational accomplishments will contribute to the mission of the Bouchet Society.
