The NSF Math Science Partnership, U-FUTuRES: University of Florida Unites Teachers to Reform Education in Science, has prepared a group of middle school science teachers through a job-embedded masters’ degree program to provide high-quality professional development to their fellow science teachers in ten North Florida school districts. This summer, our teachers will be responsible for leading their first science content-focused workshops. We are recruiting science graduate students as content experts to support our teachers in the planning and delivering of these workshops.
Content expert responsibilities:
· Attend two 3-hour trainings in effective science instructional practices
· Participate in science content workshop planning sessions with the teachers
· As content experts, work with teacher(s) to co-develop and co-facilitate science content workshop for 4th-8th grade teachers in North Florida school districts (mileage will be reimbursed for trips outside of Gainesville)
· Provide a written narrative of the science content addressed in the workshop
